An entry for BUCKO GAME JAM 2024

Inspired by this tweet

Made with Godot 4.3 beta 2

Imagine a future where Ami acquires all existing Casio Loopys ... all except one. According to rumors the last Loopy is in a certain bank's vault for whatever reason. Now it's time to complete the Loopy monopoly by breaking into that bank!

Controls:

W - forward

S - backward

Mouse - direction/aiming

Left mouse button - Shoot amitoxin to put guards to sleep, this has a long cooldown

Don't let the guards catch you nor activate the laser traps. Both will give up your location for the guards to hunt you down and activate inactive turrets that will shoot at you. Doors will open when you collect the corresponding keycard.

Bucko... I'm trying to sneak around, but I'm Ami thicc, and the tip tap of my spider legs keeps alerting the guards.

I felt like SUCH a sneaky lil gal going around and sneaking past all of those guards hehehe. The mechanic of guards/lasers that can detect you is a really smart one, and you expand on it in a great way by combining the guards and the lasers, changing up the guards walking patterns, and the progression was really satisfying!! not to mention getting that sweet sweet loopy at the end.. fantastic job!

Oh very fun! Feels like a great heist!

Hotline MiAmi. Thank you for explicit view cones for the guards, it makes it so much more pleasant to play when you can be more confident in your movements

There were some nice sneaking patterns in there.

I really like the Hotline Miami vibes this thing has, and you do a great job of expanding on ideas and mechanics in this! I like the choice of engine too; I've been working with Godot recently and think it's a great engine for game jams, really cool to see how you used it. Overall, great job!

Thank you! I looked into Godot for the first time around two years ago, but other things took priorities and I never made something with it.

The game jam was the spark I needed to get off my buttocks and look deeper into it, though my original plan for the game jam looked very different. I really liked working with Godot, Nodes and Signals make it easier to decouple things and it comes with such a big toolbox included (e. g. GUI, navigation, positional audio), which really supports using it for game jams. And I love how it is just one executable without an installer

I agree, it's a very interesting engine that has a lot of potential. I'm glad this was an opportunity to get into game development for you!
